The ornamental pattern surface is inspired by traditional patterns from the coastal areas of the Baltic Sea. Geometric sign symbols are like a coded secret language connecting different countries and time periods. Similar sign fields can be found in cultures very far from each other in terms of time and geography.

This has been pointed out by an Estonian artist and guru Tõnis Vint, hence the hint to him in the title of this work. According to Vint, a belt with complex ornamental pattern was not only a ritual object and a talisman, but an item to preserve secret knowledge. These belts hid wisdom, which only few could understand.

Question is, can we still be connected with the ancient wisdom through these sign systems… I hope we can.
